Il Y a Du Vent

The wind wants to vent
And argue with the arbour,
Feud with forest dwellers
Ruffle feathers and harbours

It wants to get in your face
Disgrace your pompadour
It wants to wrangle with the willows
And rattle your back door

It wants to gang up on geraniums
And contend with conifers,
It wants to mix it up with magnolias,
Jump on jittery junipers

It wants to hammer wheat fields
Hassle Cessnas and ferry schedules fluster
It wants to sound off, rant, harangue
Battle, bicker and bluster

It wants to flip birds
All over the seething sky
Don't dare defy the wind's
Bombastic diatribe

I Feel Like a Dog in a Fence

I feel like a dog caught in a fence
He's trying to escape,
Needing someone to rescue him
And make sure he will be okay,
Wondering how many people
Will pass me by,
Ignoring my plight
Before the situation
Will be made right

Will my whimpering
Cause them to have pity on me?
Or will I scare them off
With my dangerous teeth?
Will they cross over
To the other side of the road?
Too busy to be bothered
To carry a stranger's load
Will someone brave come close
And see what they can do?
Even a Siamese cat,
At this point, will do

How quick are we to come
To the aid of a dog or cat
But take our time to offer help
To that of our fellow man?

Let Beauty Awake

The dying sun splatters violet on the horizon

As it disappears and darkness dominates
Twilight, stardust, moonglow

The rising sun paints glories in the heavens
As it arrives and sunshine births
Birdsong, feasting, wonder

The Seagulls are Feasting

The seagulls are feasting
On crab for breakfast
With a prime ocean view
At their side
As a sleek silver bird
Motors into the bay,
Its wings flashing
White lights and red;
It descends,
Sending ripples
To the grizzled gull
In the shallows
By the crystalline shore;
Hungry passengers emerge
To enquire where the locals
Like to nibble and nosh
On hash browns with ketchup
That they tear from the packets
With their pearly whites
